Rift

By Moroso

Rift, a loanword that in geology means fissure, fissure, is a seating system that cuts across the spaces of contemporary domestic living. Unlike modular systems based on the rational use of geometry, Rift is built on an unpredictable and asymmetrical arrangement of volumes, a designed randomness inspired by the unpredictable effects of nature. Multi-level aquifers stimulate informal seating, declined for personal use also in collective use: like tectonic plates, the different layers tend to collide and overlap in an original effect of movement, making rigid and formal places fluid without altering their identity.
